A few days ago, Manchester United announced the departure of 7 players, including both first-team and youth squad members. And in the near future, they may have to push out another 10.
Club’s announcement
On June 16th, Manchester United released a statement that 7 players would leave after their contracts expire at the end of the 2022/23 season. Defenders Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe will bid farewell to the team upon contract expiration. 5 young players, namely Ethan Galbraith, Di’Shon Bernard, Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens, and Manni Norkett, will also not be retained by The Red Devils.
Some of these players have been with the club since they were young and will receive assistance from the club. It is worth noting that the young players will be supported in finding new teams.
But that is just the beginning of the squad-trimming process. Several players who are still under contract and not part of Erik ten Hag’s plans will be put on the transfer market.

This will help the club generate additional funds to increase the budget for the summer transfer window. Manchester United is currently restricted by the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, so they need to balance the books and create wage bill space.
At the very least, 10 players should be sold, which means a total of approximately 17 players will bid farewell to the Red Devils this summer.

The list of 10 stars likely to be sold includes:

- Defenders: Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, Brandon Williams, Harry Maguire
- Midfielders: Donny van de Beek, Fred, Facundo Pellistri, along with the striking duo of Anthony Martial and Anthony Elanga.
Among them, Henderson is being pursued by Nottingham and could bring in £25 million. Meanwhile, Eric Bailly may join Real Betis.
